A new artist book from rjostudio
Drunkard's Path, Reimagined
One old quilt block, taken apart and rebuilt in wax. 44 pages of patterns, diagrams, and the paintings they became.
What's inside
The Drunkard's Path is two shapes: a square and a quarter circle. Quilters have been turning those two pieces into hundreds of patterns for more than a century. This book follows what happens when you take that same logic off the quilt frame and into hot wax, one dot at a time.
Simple diagrams show how each patch is built and turned. The finished encaustic paintings show where it can go.
Ross Ozer is a Provincetown encaustic artist who learned to quilt in college and never stopped thinking in patches.

From the book
Two shapes. Four turns. Endless patterns.
Every pattern in the book starts with the same patch. Rotate it, repeat it, and a whole quilt appears.
